Cedric casually walked into the Staff Lounge. There was a private staff buffet as usual. It wasn't like a meal buffet, it was more like a snack buffet. There were chips, crackers and toppings, fruit, vegetables, and plenty of drinks. Normally, he'd go for the coffee, but today he felt more like butterbeer. Cedric grabbed a glass and poured some butterbeer into it from a pitcher. He took a sip to make sure it was the right temperature and sure enough, it was. As he continued sipping it, he looked around the room to see who else was there.

After a long, hard day of work, and he just wanted to chill now. He just wanted to sit down and chat with the other teachers. Maybe they'd chat about bad students, or maybe about non school-related things like quidditch. No matter what they talked about, Ethan would be happy to talk, rather then to get started on grading. As he pushed the door to the teacher's lounge open, he saw Cedric. "Hey Cedric. How's it going?" He asked, somewhat unenthusiastically. He was too tired to show any sign of interest in his tone. He went immediately for the coffee. Although he usually did not drink coffee, he knew that he needed it now. He was so tired. Gulping the coffee down in literally two seconds, he looked up at Cedric for an answer, his hands automatically going back for more coffee.

"Oh, hey Ethan. It's all good. You?" He asked, grinning at him. When Cedric first got a job at Hogwarts, he only acted positive around Ethan (who was Deputy Headmaster then too) because he had the power to fire him and whatnot, but he grew to like Ethan's sense of humor and his charisma. He was a nicer boss then Cedric expected to get. Cedric was wearing a black, pinstripe suit vest over a yellow tee shirt. He usually wore suit vests on work days, it was just his style. On holidays and breaks, he'd probably just wear a tee shirt. A suit vest seemed formal enough when being a teacher. He wore formal black pants and shoes. He had a solid black tie that wasn't tucked into his vest at the bottom.

After pouring himself another cup of coffee and taking another sip, he replied. "I'm fine too." There was an awkward pause between the two men as Ethan thought of how to start a conversation. "So..." He began, realizing that he'd have to improvise. "Do you have much work to do today? I know I do! I just gave out a test a few days ago and another quiz just yesterday. I haven't really done much about grading them yet... so I'll probably at least have to finish up grading the tests today. Uh... so... yeah... what about you?" He asked, trying to make sure that he wasn't being self centered and including Cedric in the conversation. He shifted uncomfortably in his shoes, hoping that Cedric wouldn't think that he went into too much detail and was already being self centered. Taking another sip of coffee, hoping that it would help him ignore it and just move on with the conversation.

Cedric took a deep breath. "Actually, I don't have much to do." He replied. Having nothing to do was almost as bad as being really booked with work. Having nothing to do was incredibly boring, although not a stressful as work. If he ended up finding something to do, then it would be a nice day, but just sitting around all day was really boring. He sighed. At least he wasn't busy like Ethan. He wanted to go on, but nothing came into his head, so he just continued to drink his butterbeer, hoping deeply that Ethan would say something, and not just let their conversation die. It was all he had to do so far.

Finishing up his coffee, Ethan realized how busy he was. It was time to get back to work. He sighed and rolled his eyes. At least the next day it would be all over. But then it would start again in only a matter of weeks. That was work. It was boring, tiring manual labor that seemed endless. Sighing again, Ethan set his cup down and looked up at Cedric. "I can tell you're bored, but I'm sorry. Like I said I'm very busy today. I need to get back to work. I guess I'll see you later Cedric." He told his co-employee as he threw away his cup and walked out the door.

Cedric sighed. "Bye Ethan. Hope work isn't too hard." He said unenthusiastically as he watched Ethan walk out the door. He finished up his butterbeer and threw the cup away. He took a deep breath and let it out. Well, there went my one source of... something to do. Oh well, I'll go to Hogsmeade or something. He thought, walking through the door and towards Hogsmeade.
